Heading into the Holidays with Dr. B and Team!

We hope that you all are getting ready for this upcoming Holiday season. Boy have we all been busy these past few months, as I am sure you have been as well. We started out the back to school season with a bang. Dr. B and Janet went to Myers Corner's Elementary School for a Mind, Health & Fitness Fair. Alomng with 30 other vendors we educated the kids on the importance of keeping your teeth clean, showed them before and after photos of new smiles, and showed them all the different appliances that can help to straighten your teeth.
To exercise their minds and hand and eye coordination we had the kids answer trivia questions about dentistry, orthodontics, and some Yankees triva, just for fun. We also had a really exciting game for the 900 kids to play with the winner receiving a Flip Camera recorder! Inspired by the game minute to win it we had the kids stack as many plastic teeth as they could, as high as they could without having them fall over. It was just as entertaining for Dr. B and Janet to watch as it was for the kids to play. The winner stacked 6 teeth in a straight line upward, pretty impressive! She recieved the Flip camera and couldn't wait to bring it home and film some fun moments with her parents on an upcoming trip. Congratulations!

For many of you who came into our office during the month of October you already know how much fun we had this Halloween season. Every corner was decorated with spiders, webs, rats and other scary things! Even though many of our patients lost power, Halloween was still a fun day at the office. We all dressed up and were inspired by all of our patients and their own awesome Halloween costume ideas! Dr. B put on his Annual Halloween Candy Buyback with this year being just as successful as years prior. We still have candy coming in daily and have already donated around 60 pounds of candy and letters to Operation Gratitude which ships candy, food, and other things to the Armed Forces serving overseas. We also donated some of the candy to one of our patients local school which ships the candy to the Marines overseas. At this time of year the soldiers and their families are always on our minds and we wish them a safe and healthy tour and a wish them home reunited with loved ones soon!
Also during October we had a wonderful time with our October Pizza contest winners and their friends at Giacomo's Pizza in Wappingers Falls, NY. Giacomo's was kind enough to host us for the afternoon and let us take over their party room to enjoy the wonderful pizza with the kids. We really enjoy all of our patients and their families so it was nice to be able to spend the afternoon with them. We hope you all have a wonderful and yummy Thanksgiving, hopefully the weather will stay this warm for the holiday so it can be spent outside before all that snow comes!
Happy Holidays!

Our Summer Patient BBQ

First, a HUGE thank you to all of our patients, their friends, and their families for braving the heat wave and coming to our first Summer patient BBQ! The weather held out all morning and the bouncy house went up! Even Dr. B and the staff took turns jumping around in the awesome bouncy house, I say next year we have a dunk tank and try to dunk Dr. B! Everyone had a great time but the real fun began when the water balloon toss quickly turned into a full on cat and mouse game with everyone trying to hit Dr. B with water balloons.
After everyone dried off relaxation mode sunk in, I hope that everyone enjoyed and stuffed themselves on all the yummy food Dr. B made on the grill; he sure did look like a professional in his apron and chef hat!
Too see all of the pictures visit us on facebook by clicking on our facebook button on the homepage or by finding us on facebook at Dr. B Smiles!
Enjoy the rest of summer and thank you all who helped us kick it off with a bang!!

Fun in The Sun Dental Tips

It is that time of the year again, summer is in full bloom, the days are longer and for kids and teens: SCHOOL IS OUT! Fun days are ahead of swimming in the pool, riding your bikes, going to beach and playing outside; staying safe is key to enjoying a long summer before school starts up again. Summer should be a fun time of year for children and teens, and with summer activities there are more chances for accidents to teeth. To protect your smile, below are some tips for keeping your beautiful smile safe and clean. have a fun summer!

Be safe when playing outdoor sports, always wear a helmet when riding your bikes to protect your head and your teeth. Wear a mouthguard when playing lacrosse, soccer, roller hockey, or any other sport where a ball or stick could damage your beautiful smile.

Summer also means rolling out the grill and cooking up some yummy BBQ. Be careful to protect your braces by cutting up sticky ribs and chicken wings, cutting corn off the cob, and avoiding chewy candies and lollipops. I know its tempting but try to limit sugary drinks to once a day. Always be sure to brush after every meal and don't forget to floss.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!
